PIDESO provides fault isolation and repair services using the AN/USM-674 Huntron Protrack Model 20B, AN/USM-676 PinPoint IIR In-Circuit Functional Tester, and the Advanced Circuit Card Automated Test (ACCAT). Under a task order contract to the Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC), PIDESO leverages the capabilities of Huntron, PinPoint, and ACCATS to develop high-quality diagnostic test routines for the test and repair of circuit cards for legacy or emerging weapons systems. Designated PIDESO personnel have been certified as Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Module Test & Repair (MTR) Program “Gold Disk” Developers and selected technicians retain Diagnosys PinPoint II User and Developer certification.
High-cost, high-demand circuit cards are key targets for COMFRC’s cost-avoidance initiative and for the Aviation Rapid Action Team (ARAT). PIDESO works with COMFRC to review Navy and Marine Corps maintenance data to identify potential corrective actions, including development of enhanced diagnostics where a return on investment can be realized in reduced material cost or improved readiness.
Currently the sole contractor supporting COMFRC-ARAT, PIDESO has developed and/or revised existing test routines for circuit cards not offloaded to Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) automatic test equipment and for many more circuit cards that had no organic Navy or Marine Corps support capability, including circuit cards identified as consumable with high retail costs. Developed test routines have proven to be effective in identifying failed components even when diagnostic developments were complicated by having limited technical data. Circuit cards verified as repaired when retested in the supported next higher assembly have contributed to substantial cost avoidance in Aviation Depot Level Repairable (AVDLR) expenditure and reduced Beyond Capable Maintenance (BCM) actions at the Navy and Marine Corps intermediate maintenance levels.
PIDESO is constantly enhancing component level diagnostics of circuit cards and providing innovative technical analysis to integrate emerging technologies into existing equipment, or, to provide alternative solutions to uneconomical support strategies. The technical efforts include reverse engineering and schematic generation of circuit cards, fleet technical assists, engineering and logistics support analysis, technology research and development, obsolescence mitigation, and on-site direct support diagnostics and repair.
